• Managing suspected research misconduct -- Young and Godlee 334 (7590): 378 -- BMJ: "Dr Julio Cruz.1 Cruz, a previously highly regarded medical researcher and clinician, committed suicide two years ago. Three of his publications about the use of high dose mannitol in head injury have recently been called into question. Furthermore, his coauthors and the editors of the journals in which the three papers were first published have failed to respond adequately to concerns raised about the integrity of the data in these papers. "
• Has Florida's Medicaid Control Unit Committed Fraud?: Charlie Crist oversaw the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) in 2003. The Dept HHS cited MFCU for lack of accurate information, employing unskilled people, & 7 other findings. FL was placed on high risk & MFCU on probation. From 2004-2005, MFCU closed 1270 cases, except 1182 (93%) cases were unfounded. Is there a witch hunt going on in Florida?
• American Civil Liberties Union : ACLU Slams Classified FBI Memorandum Directing Law Enforcement to Engage in Protest Suppression Tactics: The American Civil Liberties Union today denounced a classified FBI intelligence memorandum, obtained by the New York Times, which gives police detailed instructions on how to target and monitor lawful political demonstrations under the rubric of fighting terrorism.
